"A friend of mine, a young pastor who recently started a church, talks to me from time to time about the new face of church in America - about the postmodern church. He says the new church will be different from the old one, that we will be relevant to culture and the human struggle. I don't think any church has ever been relevant to culture, to the human struggle, unless it believed in Jesus and the power of His gospel. If the supposed new church believes in trendy music and cool Web pages, then it is not relevant to culture either. It's just another tool of Satan to get people to be passionate about nothing."

How does that work?

We are going through resumes at work and we got one that said something like this:

Lifeguard - Summer 2002
- Saved around 6 people.

Did they not know if they all made it or did they just lose count? Either way it made me laugh.

Stop wearing my clothes

I have to quit my job. I love my job, but I have to quit. I just can't handle my officemate and me dressing the same anymore.

Stephen and I's clothes matched for 1 1/2 weeks straight (his were obviously more masculine than mine, but we matched none-the-less). He swore he just picked his clothes at random, same thing I did, but I think he was stalking me. He had to have been hiding in my bushes until I left for work and could see what I was wearing. That makes a whole lot more sense than random matching for 1 1/2 weeks.

Anyway we managed to not match on Tuesday and Wednesday but today we messed it all up. We matched.

The frustrating part was that yesterday we talked about how NOT to match today. We were interviewing a guy today and were determined not to look like Thing 1 and Thing 2. Apparently there was some miscommunication on the shirts we were wearing. Today we both wore a dark long sleeve shirt with a company logo on it and tan pants. Granted Stephen's shirt was blue and mine was black and his logo was our parent company and mine was the spin-off company, but we were pretty darn close to matching.

This is why I have to quit my job. It's starting to weird me out.

I am wearing a skirt tomorrow. I'd like to see Stephen match that!

Who's arm is that?

Does anyone else think this picture is creepy? I think it looks like a still from a scary movie. One where I die.

Cleaning the Barn

Yesterday my family, my aunt and uncle and my cousin and her family all met at my Mamaw's house to clean out her barn. I don't think this barn had been cleaned out in like 50 years. My Papaw worked in the heating and cooling industry and there were all kinds of parts and pieces of equipment in that barn. We threw away a lot of trash and set even more stuff out by the road with a sign marked "free" on it. I am amazed at the junk people will take. Like two pieces of twisted rebarb. What would you do with that? This is a picture of us moving the trash pile to the road for pick-up.

We decided to burn the scrap wood and old boxes we found. We couldn't open burn it so we used a barrel we found.

It was taking to long to burn everything so true to my family's style they figured out a way to make it burn faster. They stuck a metal tube in the vent hole in the bottom and then stuck the leaf blower in the end of the tube and turned it on. The result was red-neck-trash-burnin'-inferno.

My family is so much fun. We also played softball and my sister hit a line-drive to the pitcher and hit them square in the shoulder. Too bad that pitcher was me. I got a nice bruise from it.

It was a good day yesterday. We got to burn things, spend time with family and hit softballs at me. What more could you ask for?

Looooooong weekend

It's finally the weekend. I went to work on Wednesday thinking it was Thursday. I was sorely disappointed to find out that I was one day off. There is something about mentally adding a day that just messes up the whole week. So I took some time off of work this week and now the long weekend is here.

Ben leaves tomorrow which makes the weekend less than terrific.

Such is life. Sad.

In other news all you people who wanted those kittens that I posted about - well you can't have them. I am taking them with me when I move out (at least the two who's picture was on here). So please stop filling my e-mail inbox with your pleas to take them. You'll just have to find other kittens.
